22/11/2022 – WACRS. I’ve been told by the property owner where Big Box is located that Gary VK2VZL has passed away. I have no other information except that Gary was ill with liver cancer when I last saw him in Blayney hospital a few weeks ago. Rob and I will be travelling out to Box Trig at the end of this week to retrieve the repeater which I am disappointed to say, we are not permitted to leave in place. We are hoping to catch up with all our mates on-air out at the Central Tablelands over the weekend.

06/12/2022 – The late Gary Warren, VK2VZL, was given a memorable farewell by his family and the local community at Lyndhurst yesterday.

In attendance was a group of radio mates:

VK2FKWA and Carol, VK2HDP and Donna, VK2FTMN, Wayne 666, VK2DKP, VK2XLJ, VK2RB and VK2HEY made up a considerable group of support for Gary’s family, representing the radio community and expressing the condolences of everyone who were unable to attend.
