The VKDMR Parrot on TG 9990 (timeslot 2) at Wyangala gives choppy results but is NOT a true indication of your actual network access. If NOTHING at all is received back, it’s a good sign that VKDMR access has gone down BUT TG9 is still OK to use locally.
If the Parrot is “choppy” it is likely your actual signal through the network is perfectly OK. At this stage if you hear ANYTHING LIKE YOUR VOICE coming back through the parrot, it’s a good sign and you are clear to launch yourself onto 505.
I have been unable to determine where the problem with choppy audio back from the Parrot lies but we now know that the same problem does not affect audio when working the repeater normally in DMR mode.
So use the Parrot to quickly check there is “something” making it back from the Parrot and then if ANYTHING of your voice comes stuttering back, then you are clear.
