I have a few portables. This is one of them. Doesn’t seem so long ago I bought this but is now superseded at least twice by units with colour touchscreens. But despite its cold war era LCD mono touchscreen, it’s still worthy as a dual watch rig with GPS, APRS, C4FM/Fusion/Wires-X, etc. I’ve used it with an Openspot2 in C4FM mode to cross over into VKDMR. I initially used it to link into Brandmeister which could then pass me onto the Campbelltown repeater. I remember someone telling me that they didn’t think this could be done, but the Fishers Ghost club managed to enable it. This thing apparently can also be a crossband Wires-X node which I didn’t have much luck with but apart from that, still packs a fair wallop.
Or go directly to >>Yaesu<< and be totally confused there.
There is an issue with Windows 11 (when isn’t there) whereby the programming cable SCU-19 is no longer recognised. I have made a video explaining the workaround to this problem. The driver installer capable of reviving the SCU-19 on Windows 11 is located at the following link…
