For those of us with existing licenses, you should receive an “ACMA letter of confirmation” for each of the licenses that you hold depending on how you have elected to receive correspondence from the ACMA. From that point on, there will be no license fees payable. Every five years, the ACMA will ask you if you want to keep your license.

All license holders will gradually drop off the ACMA database. A new database that holds no personally identifiable information can be used to verify if a particular call sign is in use >>HERE<< at the ACMA call-signs search page.
