Driving around the countryside can turn up the odd ham or CB radio operation. Abandoned ones though are mostly just Stationmasters left behind from the seventies and eighties and are still found attached to homes and buildings across Sydney.

This abandoned site caught my eye in the middle of the central tablelands with what appeared at first to be HF yagis hanging off it. After speaking to Davo, his recollection is there was once a quad there and on closer inspection there appears to be a multibander that has snapped in wind gusts capable of also bending the tower. Another source from the area says the story is not that peculiar (or sad) and that the owner just up and left. How well would this have worked during the current solar cycle, eh?

Photographically, it’s an interesting shape as the bent tower makes it look like an old farmer. Not too out of place in the country.
